About the Study
This study is being done to test a new investigational vaccine for meningococcal disease. Meningococcal disease is a serious and potentially deadly illness that can affect people of all ages. Although meningococcal vaccines are available, they do not cover the major types of meningococcal disease in 1 vaccine. This study is testing a vaccine that covers 5 major types of meningococcal disease.
What happens during the study?
There will be visits to the study clinic for tests and health checks, including blood tests. There will be 4 or 3 vaccine shots depending on your age. All vaccine injections will be given into the muscle of the upper arm. Some of the injections may be placebo so that everyone receives the same number of injections. A placebo contains no active ingredients.
Who can join the study?
Some requirements are listed here. The study doctor will discuss additional requirements with you and determine if you or your child are eligible for the study.
- Healthy volunteers 10 to 25 years of age
- No previous meningococcal vaccines OR previous single dose of a meningococcal vaccine more than 4 years ago
